Veterans Health Administration
AQUAS works closely with the National Center for Ethics at the Veterans Health Administration to establish the design and execute the development of their bio-ethics consult tracking system. First in its class, this application guides bio-ethics consultants through the consultation life cycle by assuring consistency and standardization of process.
Documentation and conformity to VA guidelines are assured through this flexible, yet precise tracking system, used throughout the 150 hospitals in the VA Health Care Network.
Functionality includes a knowledge management component allowing access to relevant consultations and precedent cases through storage of documents and reference materials in a central repository. Custom survey instruments were designed to capture and measure requester satisfaction, and complex custom reporting captures activity levels, trends and performance evaluation and measurements.
Initially, the application was developed as a working prototype prior to launch. Development included Process Analysis, database modeling and design, database web connectivity, web site and knowledge-based system development. The application was developed using ColdFusion front end and Microsoft SQL back end.
