AQUAS
conducted facilitated working sessions with key Grading Service
representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to identify
opportunities for streamlining processes, and for reuse of information
to enhance program area objectives. The effort included the development
of As-Is and To-Be business models, process flows and entity relationship
diagrams. AQUAS went on to develop an comprehensive system in a
WebLogic Server environment, which passes information to SQL Server
stored procedures and the web-enabled presentation layer. The system's
back end is MS SQL Server 7 with an imminent migration to 2000.

In support of
the U.S. Navy, Army and Air Force medical corps, AQUAS assisted
a business process reengineering effort designed to provide rapid
network access to a patient's medical record from any military medical
unit within a hospital or in the field. AQUAS helped develop the
functional and technical specifications, conducted the technology
review and assessment to identify appropriate hardware and software,
developed an acquisition plan, and supported the military BPR team
with facilitation services, meeting support, report preparation
and document change management. AQUAS also supported the project
officer in maintaining and updating budgetary data, preparing briefings
and presentations, and providing functional representation in conferences
and working groups.

AQUAS assisted the U.S. Small Business Administration
in a major reengineering project designed to dramatically improve
information access and exchange within the SBA as well as between
SBA and it's business partners, utilizing client/server and Internet/intranet/extranet
technologies.
As part of this effort, AQUAS designed, developed,
deployed, documented and tested the Partner Identification and Management
System (PIMS), a three-tier, Sybase and web-enabled information
system for managing financial institution data. AQUAS was involved
in the full system development life cycle. Tasks included conducting
Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions and one-on-one interviews
to collect functional requirements, designing the system using ER-win
and BP-win CASE tools and developing a prototype of the system.
AQUAS also conducted peer reviews, established test and verification
procedures, and conducted unit, system and integration testing to
verify that the system met all the functional requirements.
Further, using state-of-the-art replication technology,
AQUAS designed, developed, implemented, and tested the stored procedures
and system interfaces required to replicate Oracle data from Thomson
Financial Services to the SBA's client/server Sybase environment,
a system designed to dramatically improve the accuracy and timeliness
of the SBA's database.
Financial Management systems assessment and review.
As subcontractor to OAO Corporation, AQUAS provided support in the
analysis of State of Maryland financial management systems to identify
inefficiencies and vulnerabilities.

Maintain and enhance financial payment and transaction
tracking databases, providing support for Oracle databases, the
installation and configuration of Tivoli software, and advanced
secure features.
Developed a juvenile court case outcome management system for juveniles
that are ordered into rehabilitation programs. The system includes
the capture of periodic evaluations and creates and reports on relationships
between drug rehabilitation program and further court appearances.
Provided support to Price Waterhouse for multi-family
and public and Indian housing programs, assisted in planning and
design of data warehouse and meta data development. Supported the
integration of Lotus Notes and Sybase databases for presentation
through Lotus Notes Domino Server. Currently, as a prime contractor,
we provide technical support for end user problem requests related
to Executive Correspondence Tracking and Imaging systems. AQUAS
is also a Business Process Improvement contractor with the Office
of the Chief Information Officer.
Developed a knowledge management system to collect,
track and research bio-ethics consults and referrals. Constructed
a proof of concept web-enabled prototype
that permits sharing and linking research documents and opinions
to consults, as well as tracking consult management activities from
receipt of request to disposition, and the follow on QM process.

Developed and managed a web-enabled Oracle/ColdFusion
system for grant proposal submission and evaluation. Constructed
data model, migrated from legacy Paradox system, conducted data
migration, testing, and training.
The Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to use Smartlogik's
knowledge management portal to provide its staff with a single source
of news gathered from several different internal and external sources.
The Ministry was concerned that collecting news from several different
sources could result in vital news being missed. According to Anja
Rasmussen, Head of Library Services at the Royal Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Smartlogik "will make it much easier for our staff
to access the exact information they need more quickly than ever.
Smartlogik's integrated alerting solution will also ensure that
staff have all the latest news relevant to them exactly when they
need it."
The Nature Conservancy, the worlds largest conservation organization,
faced two problems, common to many organizations:
- Employees had difficulty finding documents unless
they knew exactly where to look
- Changes to either the information or the hierarchy
often meant documents were orphaned and lost, and also resulted
in intranet links that led nowhere.
The Nature Conservancy selected Hyperwave because
its knowledge management system does not require heavy investments
in infrastructure or IT personnel. The organization also considered
Hyperwave's technology for managing the relational and navigational
hyperlinks between documents. This built-in functionality helps
ensure that documents don't become orphaned and that users never
face the frustration of clicking on broken links resulting from
the movement or deletion of a target document.
"Our employees are very busy and don't have
time to waste on dead-end researching," said Grove. "We
expect to save time and leverage existing knowledge. "The Hyperwave
system will support The Nature Conservancy's learning and research
environment. Employees around the globe will be able to use powerful
search tools to find documents on any topic, from how to execute
a conservation easement to how to get rid of a pesky, invasive weed.
When the documents on file aren't enough for the situation at hand,
Hyperwave's expertise location function will help them find the
right person to contact.
The Nature Conservancy plans to store some
300,000 documents on the Hyperwave Information Server, including
Microsoft Word, WordPerfect and text files as well as PDF and graphics
files. Founded in 1951, The Nature Conservancy has over 3,000 employees
in 300 different locations in 30 countries. The group has over one
million members around the world.
